Visit of West Midlands Divisional Fellowship Band

Successful Tour Of Guernsey

The band has just returned from a highly successful five day tour of Guernsey (9-13 October 2015) where they were hosted by Guernsey Corps. Under the direction of Bandmaster Charles King they performed eight concerts in a variety of locations.

Performing their first concert within hours of landing the band soon felt at home as they enjoyed the welcome of Islanders.

A memorable outdoor concert in the Market Square in St Peter Port saw Deputy Bandmaster and Principal Cornet Eddie Toon thrill the crowds with the Post Horn Galop performing on a balcony high above the square.

The 33 strong band plus 4 timbrelists played a Saturday evening concert to a packed hall at Guernsey Salvation Army before playing for the Sunday meetings.

On Sunday evening the band joined with the local Corps band to play together. As well as our four timbrelists who opened every concert, the band was able to feature no less than 9 soloists ranging from Soprano Cornet to Eb Bass. The band’s final concerts saw them visit a local residential home and a special needs school where the band played a concert and in the case of the school gave some workshop demonstrations.

The band were all extremely grateful for the wonderful hospitality shown by all the members of Guernsey Corps and their officers Majors Jamie and Claire Hill.
