Today a new Local Officer was commissioned to the Corps by Majors Jamie and Claire Hill. The position of Corps Mission Secretary is new to the Army in the island, and encompasses all ministry undertaken by the Corps. The role includes working alongside both the Corps Officers, Local Officers and members of the Corps to ensure the mission of the Corps is fulfilled in all aspects of life of the Corps.
The role has a number of functions, including:
- Creating and maintaining a response within the Corps that is open to be led by the Holy Spirit and is willing to change to be more effective;
- Supporting the team of Local Officers and act as a catalyst and a facilitator to assist each section / group within the Corps to align and focus its programme and activities on its mission; and
- Working with all Corps leaders to assist in identifying the practical steps to implement the Corps Mission Development Plan, and agree collective aims, goals and targets using the Faith Based Facilitation model.
Jon Bond is a lifelong Salvationist and has previously served as a LO most recently as Bandmaster until 2013. In this new role he hopes to facilitate fulfilment of the ministry Mission of the Corps and see renewed growth and development of The Salvation Army in the island.
